What they share is salt. This is a surf beach on Bass Strait, so marine-rated enclosures and stainless mounting hardware are not optional the way they might be inland, and a battery is the last piece of equipment you want to get that wrong on.

Close to a surf beach on Bass Strait, salt-grade fixings, marine-rated enclosures and stainless mounting hardware are a baseline rather than an upgrade. This is a different exposure to Corio Bay or Lake Connewarre, and a general-purpose outdoor specification will not last here.

Cost, backup and the Powercor application
A 10kWh battery is $8,000 to $12,000 installed before rebates and $5,500 to $9,500 after the federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount, roughly 30 percent at about $250 per usable kilowatt hour from 1 May 2026, tapering above 14kWh. Marine-rated hardware and any additional weather protection are worth pricing as their own line here.
Backup means backup-capable equipment, a gateway and a sub-board with nominated circuits. On a holiday property, keeping the fridge and the alarm alive through an interruption you are not there for has real value.
